Château du Haut Barr
At an altitude of 458 meters, above the town of Saverne, lie the ruins of the castle of Haut Barr, the ancient fortress once called “the Eye of Alsace”, for an enthralling view of the plain of Alsace, the Vosges Mountains and the Black Forest Mountains meets the eye once reaching the tower or the orientation table.
On a clear day, a visitor of the ruin will even be able to perceive the point of the Strasbourg cathedral

Le château du Haut Koenigsbourg
Dominating the plain of Alsace, the Haut Koenigsbourg castle is the most famous castle in Alsace and one of its most visited monuments. The Haut Koenigsbourg castle was entirely restored at the request of the Emperor William II in around 1900, which is part of what makes it original and attractive, dispite the controversies that arose concerning the restoration. A site one musn’t miss.
Parking is free all the way up the road leading to the castle. If you wish, you can park lower down and take a pleasant walk through the forest to get there, a 2 to 15 minute walk according to parking distance.
Admission fee of 7 euros – full fare, open visiting, guided visit, audio-guide or thematic visit.
